Youth Employment Program

​​ “BOOST -​​ Pathways to Success” is Africa Centre’s Youth Employment Program. It gives youth and young adults a chance to take​​ life and​​ employability skills training and to acquire work experience they can put on a résumé. The training component will run 9:00​​ AM to 4:00 PM​​ Monday through Friday​​ for 10 weeks followed by 12 weeks’ full-time work experience.​​ 

Participants must:​​ 

  • Be between the ages of 15 and 30 years’ old​​ 

  • Be unemployed​​ 

  • Be facing several barriers to getting and keeping a job​​ 

  • Not be receiving Employment Insurance benefits​​ 

  • Be a Canadian citizen, legally entitled to work in Canada, a permanent resident, or have been granted refugee status​​ 

 

Twelve youth​​ are​​ admitted​​ into the program​​ with​​ priority given to those who face several significant barriers to finding or keeping employment.​​
